DAY 9 – 5th DAY NORTH

DAY 9 – 5th DAY NORTH

Nothing much going on this morning.  Stopping at Tromsø at 2:15 for a couple hours and we have nothing official planned, but Francie has ideas.  My idea is to follow her.
Perhaps I’ll take a walk around the boat and get some pictures.
About the boat... We figure there are about 270 of us cruisers, mostly German speakers.  There are always a few people (locals) getting on and off. We are going up and back, that is., Bergen to Kirkenes and back to Bergen.  Some cruisers booked just a north or just a south excursion.
This is Mary Frances at her leisure.

Down our 5th floor hall way

The Laudry Room.  It is not believeable, but, as far as we can tell, all 270 of us and the crew use this facillity.

Down the longest hallway I could find.  I would estimate based on my vast ship wrighting experience that this is 80% of the straight part of the ship.

The Expedition Desk is where we sign up for land excursions and get general information.

The entrance to the small gift shop

Third floor café

Fourth Floor Aft Lecture area.  I took the photo just seconds before my lecture on "The Python Plague of Greater St. Pete”.

Seventh Floor bar area...

and associates Sit’n Look

A Sit’n Look area heading toward the 4th floor dining room

An enclosed area on the 7th floor heading to the aft deck

A panorama of the aft deck with screwed up perspective.  The solid railings are the ship’s sides the open railing is the stern.

Monitors on the ship let us know where we are,

Announcements in the evening (or night) tell when Northern Lights are visible.  Tonight, the captain announced that a dim Aurora was visible off the right (not port or starboard – where did this guy get his license?).

So here I would just caution about what you designate as a life goal.  Once such designation has been officially proclaimed, a little discomfort cannot impede an obvious opportunity to accomplish said goal.  It’s just that, dang, it takes a lot to get dressed up and venture into a cold wind, after having been settled in – especially if you can’t wear gloves and you’re going to be there for 10 to 30 minutes.
This is what I got.  And, this only became apparent after I boosted the heck out of brightness and contrast.  Francie pointed out, "Ooo the Big Dipper!"
